The Marion Popcorn Festival hosts many events during their three day festival being held September 6th through September 8th. The Popcorn Festival is sponsored in part by the City of Marion.
The Marion Popcorn Festival Fine Arts Juried Show and Sale will be held September 6, 7, and 8th, in Marion City Hall on West Center Street. Artwork will be displayed in a gallery-type atmosphere, and all artists are invited to enter. Several categories of art will be judged including painting, drawing, two and three dimensional media. Artists may enter their work in advance by calling Tim Gorenflo at 740/361-0148 after 6:00 p.m., or by e-mailing him at [email protected]. All work must be framed or ready for exhibition, and must remain on display at the Fine Arts Show for the duration of the Marion Popcorn Festival. This event is sponsored in part by the Mid-Ohio Fine Art Society and the City of Marion.
The Marion Popcorn Festival Popcorn 5K run, a TAC Certified event, will be held Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. Cost is $12.00 through the early registration deadline of September 6th and $15.00 after deadline and on race day. First 80 pre-registered participants receive a 5K T-shirt. Additional information and registration forms are available on line at www.popcornfestival.com and www.premierraces.com. The Marion Popcorn Festival Popcorn Craft/Commercial/Community Area is open all three days of the festival. This area features craft items, commercial booths and a community area. The Marion Popcorn Festival State Sanctioned Buckeye Pedal Tractor Pull will take place on Saturday, September 8th at 2:00 P.M. on Main Street in Downtown Marion. Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. The event is free for ages 3-11 and $5.00 for ages 12-Adult. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes for the event. Ribbons will be awarded to the 3 year old and 12 and over categories. The top three winners of each age division in the 4-11 year old categories will be awarded trophies.
