Popcorn Festival’s 7th Annual Cornhole Cassic is Saturday

The Marion Popcorn Festival will be hosting the 7th Annual Corn Toss Classic tournament on Saturday, September 8, in the Poppin’ Party Stage area on West Center Street across from Charleston Place.  Registration is 10:00 a.m. with tournament start time at 11:00 a.m.

A double elimination tournament, the entry fee is $20 per team, cash only.  Pay out will be 80% of the entry fees taken in to the first and second place teams.  For more information call Wayne at 740-360-2250.

Logan Tire, for the seventh consecutive year, will be sponsoring the event.

Corn toss … more commonly referred to as cornhole, an increasingly popular game, is similar to horseshoes except you use wooden boxes called cornhole platforms and corn bags instead of horseshoes and metal stakes. Contestants take turns pitching corn bags at the platform until a contestant reaches the score of 21 points. A corn bag in the hole scores 3 points, while one on the platform scores 1 point.

Set for September 6, 7, and 8, the Marion Popcorn Festival is the largest popcorn festival in the world with an annual attendance estimated in excess of 250,000 over the three-day festival.
