Ohio State Marion Announces New Five Nights Season

Five Nights on Campus, Ohio State Marion’s successful performing arts and entertainment series, kicks-off its 18th season of quality family entertainment Thursday, October 11, 2012, 7:30 p.m. with An Evening with Mike Cross.

With fourteen albums, hundreds of radio and television appearances, and thousands of concerts under his belt, Mike Cross continues to evolve and progress.  With his guitar and fiddle, he has traveled coast-to-coast delighting audiences with 12-string bottleneck blues, fiery Irish jigs, and a wealth of his own music and stories filled with backwoods humor characteristic of a Mark Twain or Will Rogers.  Whether he is appearing at Symphony Hall in Boston or at  an outdoor music festival in Arkansas, people across the country look forward to seeing their favorite fiddling storyteller and sharing these special good times with friends and family.

In addition to the comedic musical performance of Mike Cross, Five Nights features a wide array of musical performance genres for everyone, from Broadway and Celtic to stories told through song, and jazz.  The performers are equally as eclectic.  In November, the campus will once again take advantage of its student talent to present the 2008 Tony Award winning Broadway musical, Xanadu.  The series takes a short hiatus through the winter, picking up again in March 2013 as Five Nights welcomes the return of one of the Midwest’s most successful and sought after Celtic groups Lone Raven.  In April, the dynamic trio of Larissa Thurston Bateman, Cabot Rea, and David Tolley will join forces to present, An Evening of Songs & Stories.  The 2012-2013 Five Nights season comes to a close with the Bone Voyage Jazz Band, a Cincinnati- based jazz septet plays music of the 20th century.

The mission of Five Nights on Campus is to provide exceptional and diverse cultural and educational opportunities and to encourage the community to be a part of campus life.  The series, which began in autumn 1995, offers an outstanding blend of talented local, national, and international performers.

Season tickets are now on sale, and tickets for individual performances are available in advance or at the door.  Rates for season will remain unchanged for the 2021-2013 year.  Season ticket prices are:  $50 for scarlet and gray patrons; $35 for adults; $30 for seniors; $28 for Marion campus employees; and $15 for students.
