Over 30 youngsters ages 8 through 13 competed in the December 1, 2012 Marion Elks Lodge 32 Area Hoop Shoot competition. This was the 41st year that the Marion Elks have sponsored the “Hoop Shoot” free-throw shooting contest where youth can advance from the local level through district, state, and on to the national level.
The six Marion Elks Champions, one boy and one girl in each age group, will advance to the North-Central District Hoop Shoot contest, to be held January 13, 2013 in Bellevue, OH. From there winners continue on to the state finals in February, 2013 in Columbus. State winners progress to the three-state Regional competition in March in Rochester, MI. The National Finals will be held in Massachusetts.
