Buckeyes Beat Indiana 70-56

Tayler Hill led three Buckeyes in double-figures with 24 points and Ashley Adams recorded six blocked shots as Ohio State snapped a three-game losing skid with a 70-56 win Sunday over Indiana at Assembly Hall.

The win moves the Buckeyes to 12-10 and 2-7 in the Big Ten while Indiana falls to 10-12 and 1-8 in league play.

The Buckeyes committed just nine turnovers on the afternoon and shot 50 percent from the field on the offensive end. Hill was 10 of 13 from the free throw line and added five boards while Ameryst Alston recorded 11 points and five assists. Junior Darryce Moore added 11 off the bench.

Ohio State pulled away midway through the second half with the help of two technical fouls within 1 minute by the Indiana bench. Leading 47-41 with 13:43 left, Ohio State rattled off the next eight points, with five coming from Hill at the free throw line, and a three-point play by Moore.

But Indiana would not go away as the Hoosiers would eventually cut the lead to seven once again with a little more than 8 minutes left. But that would be as close as IU would come. The Buckeyes, who shot 56 percent in the second half, pushed their lead up to as much as 17 before holding on for the 14-point victory.

Adams would score six points and grab seven rebounds. Her six blocked shots, which wereone shy of her career high, moved her over the 200-block mark of her career. Emilee Harmon added a season-high six points off the bench for the Buckeyes.

Jasmine McGhee led Indiana with 16 points and Aulani Sinclair added 15 for the Hoosiers who have now lost seven in a row.

Ohio State opened a 34-24 lead late in the first half behind a 12-0 run, before IU answered with two consecutive three-point field goals to cut the lead to 34-30 at the break. Alston led Ohio State with nine points and four assists in the first 20 minutes.

The Buckeyes return home to Value City Arena at 7 p.m. Thursday vs. Wisconsin.
