The Marion Police Department says they arrested a drive thru robbery suspect after investigating a drug overdose that took place within hours of the robbery Sunday night.
On April 7, 2013 at about 9:00pm, the Marion Police Department received a call from General Sales Drive Thru, 450 Jefferson Street, reporting that they had just been robbed. Police say the suspect entered the drive thru and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect indicated that he had a gun and would harm the clerk. He fled the scene with an undisclosed amount money.
The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male or Hispanic male, approximately 5’7” tall, 25-30 years-old, wearing a dark-colored fitted hat and a blue fleece-type long-sleeved shirt.
Later Sunday evening, officers investigating a drug overdose say they developed information that led them to a suspect in the robbery. After further investigation, 26-year-old Christopher Santiago, of Marion, was arrested and taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center on charges of Aggravated Robbery for the incident at General Sales.
The report will be forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.
