Marion Police Discover Small Meth Lab

Marion Police DepartmentThe Marion Police Department says officers, acting on a tip, discovered a “small” meth lab on Tuesday and arrested two men. On April 30, 2013, officers responded to an apartment in the 100 block of Jefferson Street for the report of a possible meth lab.

When officers arrived, chemicals and other components used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were located inside the apartment. Officers say they also discovered that a small amount of methamphetamine had been made at the residence.

Jacob D. Workman, 27, of Marion, and Joseph L. Ralston, 27, of Richwood were detained and then arrested after returning to the apartment. Police say that more components for the manufacture of methamphetamine were located and collected from the vehicle they arrived in.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office along with an agent from BCI assisted in the clean up. One officer was treated and released from Marion General Hospital as a precautionary measure.

The two suspects were initially charged with Illegal Manufacture of Methamphetamine and Illegal Assembly or Possession of Chemicals for Manufacture of Methamphetamine. Formal charges are expected to be filed by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
