Aqua Ohio (Aqua) recently announced plans for 2013 water distribution system improvement projects in the Marion service area. The projects involve the replacement of more than 3,300 linear feet of aging, undersized water mains, the installation of fire hydrants and other related infrastructure.
“This year we are focusing our resources on two areas of the system that have been problematic: along Pole Lane Road and in The Woods subdivision,” said Aqua Area Manager, Scott Ballenger. “The projects will replace aging lines with new lines and customers along the construction route will receive new service connections. In The Wood’s subdivision we will also be improving fire protection by adding hydrants where there have been none.”
Key details of projects include:
- Pole Lane Road
- Replacement of more than 1,850 feet of aging cast iron water line with a 12-inch water line along Pole Lane Road to improve service reliability in the area.
- Construction is scheduled to begin April 29 and be complete by the end of May.
- The Woods
- Replacement of more than 1,500 feet of aging two-inch water line with six and eight-inch lines to improve water pressure in the area, especially when fire crews require large volumes of water.
- Addition of fire hydrants in the area.
- Construction is scheduled to begin May 10 and be complete by the end of August.
