Vicki J. Reed, age 64, of Marion died Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Vicki was born on September 15, 1945 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Woodrow W. and Marie Hooper. She is survived by Merle Reed, her husband of 41 years. They were married October 20, 1968.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Lisa Reed (David Dickas), a grandson, Nathaniel Reed Dickas, of Columbus; two sisters, Judy (Phillip) Walters of Delaware, OH and Jill (Stephen) McGuire of Waldo, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a 1963 graduate of Ridgedale High School and she graduated from the State Beauty Academy in Marion in 1964. Upon graduation, she worked as a cosmetologist at Hy-Style Salon and was an instructor at the State Beauty Academy. Later she became the director and co-owner with her husband, Merle. Together they operated the Beauty Academy and several salons until their retirement in 2003.
Vicki was an active member of the Prospect Street United Methodist Methodist Church, including: the Administrative Council serving as worship chairperson, Christmas by Candelight Live Nativity, The Hilda Weiss Cirlcle, and noodle making chairperson. In addition, she was an officer for the Findlay District United Methodist Women, serving on the Nominations Committee; Spiritual Growth Missions Coordinator for United Methodist Women of the Captial Area, North District; and was a team member of Epiphany Ministry of Ohio, which is prison ministry for incarcerated youth.
Vicki was an avid Nascar fan. She enjoyed wintering in Florida, traveling and spending time with her family and friends and most of all, playing with her grandson Nate.
Friends may call at the Prospect Street United Methodist Church Thursday, Aprill 22, 2010 from 4:00 – 8:00. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 23, 2010 at the church. The Pastor M. Joseph Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Marion, OH.
