Palace Theatre Showing “42” for Father’s Day

Marion Palace TheatreThe Marion Palace Theatre will show the biographical sports film “42” about the life of baseball player Jackie Robinson, who wore jersey number 42. The film stars Chadwick Boseman as Robinson and Harrison Ford as team executive Branch Rickey.  The film will play on Father’s Day Weekend on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm.

In 1946, Jackie Robinson is recruited by Brooklyn Dodgers team executive Branch Rickey and becomes the first African American Major League player. As both men predict, this integration is not an easy road for Robinson and his family as they struggle with racist hostility from team players, managers and fans.  Robinson prevails and finds allies and hope where he least expects it.  In a game divided by color, he made us see greatness.

“42” has received positive reviews from critics and achieved the rare “A+” CinemaScore rating.

“42” is rated PG-13 for thematic elements including language and runs 2 hours, 8 minutes. The film will play at the Marion Palace Theatre.  Tickets are $4/Adults, $3/Seniors (62 & over), $2/Children (12 and under).
