Evelyn Mae (Dean) Fink, age 81, of Marion Pleasant Township, died on Monday April 19, 2010 in her home.
She was born February 28, 1929 in Lobelia, WV to the late Grady and Sylvia (Gray) Dean. She was also predeceased by Sister Adeline Price and Brothers William Dean, Robert Dean and Joseph Dean.
Evelyn was a member of Oak Knoll Baptist Church for 54 years where she was a Nursery Worker, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher and Director and served many years as either Treasurer or Financial Secretary.
Evelyn worked for the Pleasant School system for 25 years where she concluded her career serving many years as the head cook for all Pleasant Schools. After her retirement in the mid 90's she continued in community service as a volunteer at Marion General Hospital she was also an employee and volunteer at Mobile Meals of Marion until early 2010.
Along with her many talents, including knitting blankets for her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, she is famous for being the "Cookie Lady". She baked and sold 100's of dozen cookies each holiday season and for special occasions for many years and donated her proceeds to Missionaries the world over.
She also ministered by opening up her home to many many visiting missionaries and ministers to stay when they were visiting her church.
She was married to Zelmer H. Fink who passed away January 8, 2001.
Surviving are a sister, Kathleen/Kitty Logan of Beckley, WV, brothers, Henry Dean, of Fort Myers, FL, Thomas Dean of Marion Ohio, sons, Alan Fink of Harvard, MA, Douglas Fink of Lake Ann, MI, Larry Fink of Richmond, VA. Grandchildren, Andrew Fink, Zachary Fink, Jacob Fink, Michael Fink, Steven Fink, McKinzie Fink, Harrison Fink, Reilly Fink, Great Grandchildren Kaden Fink and Shiloh Fink.
Funeral services will be held Sunday April 25, 2010 at 2 PM in the Oak Knoll Baptist Church, 1007 Van Atta Av, Marion, OH, 43302, with Pastor AI Miller officiating. Burial will be Monday, April 26 at 9 AM in Marion Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday April 24, 2010 from 2 to 6 in the Boyd-Born Funeral Home, and also a half hour prior to the service at the church.
