On November 15, 16 and 17, 2013, the Marion Palace Theatre will show the suspense film “Captain Phillips”telling the true story of Richard Phillips, a U.S. cargo-ship captain who surrendered himself to Somali pirates so that his crew would be freed.
Captain Richard Phillips (two time Academy Award®-winner Tom Hanks) and his crew are carrying freight around the Horn of Africa when four Somali pirates led by the ruthless Muse (Barkhad Abdi), forcefully take over their ship, the MV Maersk Alabama. Phillips and Muse are set on an unstoppable collision course when Muse and his crew target Phillips’ unarmed ship; in the ensuing standoff, 145 miles off the Somali coast, both men will find themselves at the mercy of forces beyond their control.
This film is rated PG-13 for sustained intense sequences of menace, some violence with bloody images, and for substance use and runs 2 hours, 13 minutes.
“Captain Phillips”will play at the Marion Palace Theatre Friday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, November 16 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $4/Adults, $3/Seniors (62 & over), $2/Children (12 and under).
