Marion Patrol Post Names Banta as Trooper of the Year

Ohio State Highway PatrolOhio State Highway Patrol Trooper John Banta has been selected as the 2013 Trooper of the Year for the Marion Post. Officials say Banta, 31, was selected in recognition of outstanding service during 2013.

Fellow officers stationed at the Marion Post chose Trooper Banta based on his leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.

Trooper Banta served in the Army and then joined the Highway Patrol in 2007. He has served his entire career at the Marion Post. He is originally from Bellefontaine, OH and graduated from Bellefontaine High School. Banta received four commendation letters and has been a Field Training Officers this year. Other Highway Patrol awards received in the past include the Health and Physical Fitness Award and Five Year Safe Driving Award.

Trooper Banta currently resides in Upper Sandusky with his wife Jennifer and their son Christian.
