Buckeyes Beat Tennessee Martin 82-60

Ohio State BuckeyesAmy Scullion scored a career-high 19 points and shot a perfect 6 of 6 from the field as the Buckeyes bounced back in big way with an 82-60 win over visiting Tennessee Martin Tuesday night at Value City Arena.

The win moves the Buckeyes to 8-6 on the season while the Seahawks, who were coming off a 75-57 road win at SEC-power Alabama, fall to 6-4.

Scullion enjoyed a career night, hitting all five of her three-point attempts while grabbing a career-high nine rebounds in 37 minutes. Scullion, who now is the seventh Buckeye to lead the team in scoring this season, was one of five Buckeyes in double figures. Martina Ellerbe and Ameryst Alston added 13 and Cait Craft and Raven Ferguson both added 12. Ellerbe also tied a career high with five assists.

Unlike Sunday’s game at Cincinnati, Ohio State controlled the game from the outset and jumped out to a 31-12 lead when a layup by Alston capped a 17-1 Ohio State run spanning more than 6 minutes. Ohio State’s defense held UT Martin to just one field goal over a 10-minute span in the first half to help the Buckeyes seize control.

The Seahawks shot just 27 percent overall for the game and were held to 21 percent in the first half.

The Buckeyes’ dominance continued in the second half as Ohio State pushed the lead to as much as 29 points with 5 minutes remaining. Ohio State shot nearly 60 percent in the second half and 52 percent for the game – the fourth time this season where the Buckeyes shot 50 percent or better. The eight made three-pointers by the Buckeyes also tied a season best.
