Marion Palace Theatre Showing Award Nominated Film “Blue Jasmine”

Blue Jasmine FilmOn January 17, 18 and 19, 2014 the Marion Palace Theatre will show the award nominated film “Blue Jasmine” starring Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin and Sally Hawkins.

Written and directed by Woody Allen, “Blue Jasmine” tells the story of a rich Manhattan socialite, Jasmine French (Cate Blanchett) who finds herself poverty-stricken and homeless.  After everything in Jasmine’s life falls to pieces, including her marriage to wealthy businessman Hal (Alec Baldwin), she moves into her sister Ginger’s (Sally Hawkins) modest apartment in San Francisco.  Forced to put her life back together while under the effect of powerful anti-depressants, she dates a series of men, attempts to build a career, and slowly learns she must rely on herself for survival.

The film has received several awards and nominations, including a Golden Globe Award win for Blanchett in the Best Actress – Drama category. “Blue Jasmine” is rated PG-13 for mature thematic material, language and sexual content and runs 1 hour, 38 minutes.

“Blue Jasmine” will play at the Marion Palace Theatre Friday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, January 18 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 19 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $4/Adults, $3/Seniors (62 & over), $2/Children (12 and under).
