The unemployment rate for Marion County dropped in December 2013 to 7.1 percent, down from 7.7 percent in November, according to information provided by Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The rate equals the rate from a year ago, 7.1 percent in December 2012.
The dip comes as the available workforce decreased by 100 people and another 100 people found employment.
Those counties surrounding Marion also saw decreases.

Ohio’s unemployment rate was 7.2 percent in December 2013, down from 7.4 percent in November. The U.S. unemployment rate for December was 6.7 percent, down from 7.0 percent in November and from 7.9 percent in December 2012.
