Marion Police Make Quick Arrest in Downtown Robbery

Marion Police DepartmentThe Marion Police Department reported making a quick arrest after a downtown business was broken into early Friday morning.

On April 18, 2014 around 5:01 a.m., the Marion Police Department responded to a breaking and entering in progress at Just4Kids, 220 North Main Street in downtown Marion.

Officer Pahl arrived in 15 seconds and observed a male run from the building. Officer Diem then caught and arrested the suspect, identified as Phillip Haire, a couple blocks away in the parking lot of the former Marion Star building.

Police said a laptop computer was stolen and recovered in this case.

Haire, 34, of Marion, was taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center for Breaking and Entering. The case will be forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor for the filing of formal charges.
