The Marion Popcorn Festival’s 2014 Poppin’ Pooch Pageant will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, at the American Red Cross, 1849 Summerset Drive in Marion.
Dogs will compete in three categories: Favorite Outfit, 50s or Popcorn Wear, and Formalwear. All dogs must be on a leash. Entry fee is $20, and must be received prior to July 18, 2014.
“No experience is required,” said Poppin’ Pooch Chairman Robb Koons. “If your dog doesn’t do tricks, just improvise and get the crowd going. This is all about having fun.”
“And if you don’t have a dog, come out and enjoy the canine antics.”

Currently celebrating its 34th year, the Marion Popcorn Festival is billed as the largest popcorn festival in the world with an annual attendance estimated in excess of 250,000 over the three-day festival. Other events include a popcorn cooking contest, a fine art show, crafts, Popcorn 5000 5K run, Popcorn 100 bike tour, a community showcase stage, and more.
Main stage entertainment for 2014 includes Panama: the Van Halen Tribute Band on Thursday, September 4; country star Craig Thompson on Friday, September 5; and classic rock band Night Ranger on Saturday, September 6.
