State Representative Dorothy Pelanda (R-Marysville) has been appointed as chair of the Law Enforcement Perspectives on the Drug Epidemic & Its Impact on Families Study Committee. The committee is part of two bipartisan study committees, which will hold hearings regarding specific state issues throughout Ohio this summer.
The special committee will continue the work completed by last year’s Prescription Drug Addiction and Healthcare Reform Study Committee, which reviewed and discussed the opioid and heroin epidemic in the state. This year’s committee will continue the goal of curtailing the drug epidemic by focusing on community impact and scope of the problem, prevention, coordination of law enforcement services, and treatment and recovery.
The committee will hold a series of hearings across the state during the summer months to gather information from both citizens and experts alike to assist in formulating a final report and possible legislative recommendations.
