Marion Senior Center Hosting Car Show, Concert, Cookout

2013 Marion Senior Center Car ShowThe Marion Senior Center will host a “Car Show, Concert & Cookout” event on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 5:30 to 8 pm in the Center’s parking lot. There are dozens of Classic Cars scheduled to be on display, from muscle cars to Model T’s.

Local collectors and enthusiasts wanting to exhibit their Classic Car(s) are encouraged to arrive between 4:00 – 5:15 pm to secure a space in the display area. There is no fee to participate as this is just an exhibition, not a competition.

Highlighting the evening’s festivities will be a concert by Paul Lyons and Danny Gregory, who will perform country music, along with a little classic rock and gospel.

Guests can also participate in outdoor games if they wish, including horseshoes, Jarts and corn hole.

Everyone attending is encouraged to bring a comfortable lawn chair.

The “cookout” portion of the event is actually being provided by popular local food vendors. Attendees can enjoy their choice of a hot dog, hamburger, cheeseburger, bratwurst or pulled pork sandwich from D’s Ultimate Dogs for dinner, and yummy ice cream from Little Red Caboose for dessert. All food will be will be priced and sold a la carte by the individual vendors.

The event is open to the public for anyone age 50+. A free will donation will be accepted at the door in lieu of purchasing a ticket. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the dry, air-conditioned comfort of the Marion Senior Center. Food will also be available indoors.
