Saturday in the Park Adding Zip Line to Returning Inflatables and Free Little Tots Area

ziplineOrganizers of the Saturday in the Park Festival has announced that families attending the event on Saturday, August 23, 2014 will discover a giant zip line will grace the Lincoln Park skyline. For an additional fee, children and adults will be able to hook up to a harness and slide through an area of the park. The zip line is just a new addition to the bounce houses and bounce rides area of the festival.

Saturday in the Park chairman Gary Rivers said, “We are so excited to bring the zipline to the park in 2014.” Rivers added that the zip line is actually two rides-in-one.

“You’ll just have to see it to believe how amazing this ride is,” he said.

The festival is featuring over a dozen bounce houses and other rides this year.  Most are being provided by their partners, Jump House Entertainment of Columbus, Ohio. All rides will be available between the hours of 12:00 noon and 6:00 p.m.

Ride prices remain the same this year, with the exception of an additional dollar to ride the zip line.  Rides are one dollar each, or you can purchase a wrist band that does not include the zipline for five dollars ($5.00)  or, with the zipline for six dollars ($6).

There is also a free “little tots” area in the center of Lincoln Park, that is being operated by Marion Grace Brethren Church. The church, led by Pastor John Jones is providing tricycles, sand play, bubbles, Lego style pre-school blocks, and chairs for family members to rest on. Members of the church congregation will staff the area.

The Saturday in the Park Festival is now in its 18th year of providing free and inexpensive games, rides and activities to Marion’s youth.  This year will feature a dozen inflatable bounce houses and rides, a zip line, 10 COSI Science stations, a free children’s play area, costumed characters,  two entertainment stages, car show, health fair, food  vendors,  over a dozen safety and police vehicles, a helicopter fly-in, and dozens of free games and activity booths.  Also returning is NWA/SEW Wrestling.

Saturday in the Park is a non profit organization with a stated purpose of providing a safe, and inexpensive family event in Marion’s Lincoln Park. It is overseen by representatives of the City of Marion, Marion County Children Services, Marion City Schools, United Way, and  the Marion Community Credit Union.
