Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey recently announced the 2014 selections for Civilian Employee of the Year is Dispatcher Shawn Thorpe. Thorpe came to the sheriff’s office in January 2013 from the Marion Township Fire Department.
“Dispatcher Thorpe’s dedication, work ethic, and experience make him an excellent selection for the 2014 Sheriff’s Office Civilian of the Year,” stated Bailey.
Thorpe served with the Marion Township Fire Department for 23 years where he was a dispatcher, Emergency Medical Technician, and a Firefighter. He also served for 24 years as a Volunteer Firefighter and EMT with the Salt Rock Fire Department volunteering his time and passion to Marion County.
Dispatcher Thorpe is a graduate of Harding High School and a Veteran of the United States Navy where he served in The Vietnam War in 1971 and 1972.
