Police arrest man for Thursday robbery of Marion restaurant

The Marion Police Department says they arrested a man for robbing a restaurant early Thursday morning by knife-point. On December 18, 2014 at about 8:00am, officers responded to the Subway on Delaware Avenue for the report of an armed robbery where the suspect brandished a knife and demanded money.

The suspect took the entire cash drawer and fled on foot from the business.

Officers from the police department canvassed the area and a Deputy from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and her K9 partner attempted a track, but the suspect could not be located.

Police said that information received within the next couple of hours led officers to a house on South Prospect Street where the suspect was located as was additional evidence of the crime.

Paul D. McGowan III, 33, of Marion, was arrested and transported to the Multi-County Correctional Center on several charges, including aggravated robbery. The case has been forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor Office for the filing of formal charges.
