The 2015 Marion Popcorn Festival is set for September 10, 11 and 12 and the theme for this year’s event will be “Poppin’ Safari.”
Festival officials indicated that, although the overall theme for the Festival is “The Big Pop,” the Festival’s parade and pageant events enjoy setting a secondary theme each year to give the events a coordinated look, as well as giving direction to the infinite creativeness of the participants. It was felt that the “Poppin’ Safari” theme would give parade entrants and pageant contestants a great outlet for their imaginative spark.
Entry forms for all events will be available at www.popcornfestival.com as soon as details for each event have been finalized.
T-shirts reflecting the Marion Popcorn Festival’s theme are sold at the event each year. The design on the front of the T-shirt is determined each year through a contest that is open to the general public. Each drawing submitted should incorporate the Poppin’ Safari theme, the words Marion Popcorn Festival, and, of course, popcorn. There is a three-color limit on the designs. Submission should be made on an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper with the entrant’s name, age, grade/school (if applicable), and phone number on the bottom left corner of the drawing’s backside. The winner will be announced by the end of July, and will receive a printed T-shirt with their design, two Main Stage Kernel Sponsorship Seats for the night of their choice, recognition announced on the Festival’s web site and local newspaper (if possible), entry into the Festival’s parade (must supply your own vehicle), and an award certificate. If the winner is a minor, a parent or legal guardian will need to be present.
The Marion Popcorn Festival is the largest popcorn festival in the world with an annual attendance estimated in excess of 250,000 over the three-day festival.
