Gene Adams, age 71 of Marengo died peacefully at home Sunday evening, May 2, 2010.
He was born April 24, 1939 in Perry County, Kentucky to the late Ray and Evelyn (Young) Adams. Gene retired in 2005 after working 40 years with City Wide Supply Inc. as a sheet metal foreman.
A former Marengo Volunteer Fireman, he was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Quiet in nature, he possessed a gentle soul that was liked by all. He was happiest amongst his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He was a wonderful husband to his loving wife of 49 years: Billie W. (Addison), father of son: Craig (Laura) Adams of Marengo, daughter: Daphne (Bryan) Engebritson of Reno, NV, and grandfather to: Chad Adams (Miss Calai Van Meter), Allie, and Wyatt Engebritson.
Also survived by brothers: Archie (Glenna) Adams of Marengo, John (Kathy) Adams of Pulaskiville, Dan Adams of Iberia, Sisters: Bonnie (Harvey)Moore of Centerburg, Aggie (Herman) Adkins of Fredericktown, Shirley Hall of Marengo, Dora (Astor) Caudill of Marengo, Martha (Don) Newell and Mary (Jerry) Newell of Marion.
Friends may call Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury. Graveside services will be Thursday 11:00 a.m. at Bloomfield Cemetery, near Sparta with Pastor Jeff Deel officiating.
