White Sox beat Indians 4-1

Left-hander Jose Quintana spun six solid innings and Jose Abreu launched his second home run of the season, helping the White Sox claim a 4-1 victory over the Indians on Tuesday night at Progressive Field.

The Indians had more on their mind than the loss column, though.

In the first inning, Cleveland starter Carlos Carrasco was hit on the side of the face by a line drive from Melky Cabrera, forcing the pitcher out of the game. The Indians received good news, as X-rays on Carrasco came back negative and the pitcher was being treated for a jaw contusion.

“You never want to see that,” White Sox reliever Zach Duke said. “No matter who it is, you don’t want to see that. Hopefully he’s OK.”

Cleveland’s only offense against Quintana came in the fourth inning, when Jerry Sands singled, advanced to second on a passed ball and later scored on a double from Ryan Raburn. Over the past two games, Raburn has contributed three hits with three RBIs for the Tribe.

“We had opportunities to get ourselves back in that ballgame,” Indians outfielder Brandon Moss said. “It just wasn’t there tonight. It was one of those nights where it was definitely hard to get things going.”
