Police: Two Marion homes hit by gunfire and firebombs

The Marion Police Department said they are investigating two incidents where guns were fired at Marion homes early Sunday morning. Firebombs were also thrown at the two homes.

On May 31, 2015 at 6:12am, officers from the Marion Police Department responded to 412 East Farming Street for a report that an unknown subject or subjects had fired multiple shots into the residence and also threw a firebomb at the residence.

At 6:38am, another call reporting that an unknown subject or subjects had fired shots into 291 Maple Street and also threw a firebomb at that residence.

No one was injured in either incident and damage to the homes was minimal on East Farming and it was more significant on Maple, according to investigators.

“These acts appear to be related and the fact that no one was injured or killed in these extremely dangerous attacks is a miracle,” said Major Jay McDonald.

McDonald said the investigation is ongoing and active. If anyone has information regarding these incidents, you are urged to contact the Marion Police Department as soon as possible. Call 740-387-2525 or you can report it anonymously on the TIPS Line at 740-375-TIPS.
