Marion Community Foundation’s annual Community Grants Program will award more than $700,000 to local nonprofit organizations. The online application is currently open, now through July 20.
“We are looking to support organizations that have a vision and action plan to move Marion forward,” said Dean Jacob, Marion Community Foundation president and CEO. ”It is the goal of the Foundation’s Grants Committee that local nonprofits will strategically consider how a grant to their organization may significantly impact the Marion area residents they serve.”
The annual Grants Program applications are now available online at www.MarionCommunityFoundation.org. Applications are being accepted through 5 p.m. on July 20. Applicants must have nonprofit 501(c)3 or an equivalent IRS tax determination status.
“The intent of the Community Grants Program is to distribute charitable dollars to programs serving the Marion area,” said Julie Prettyman, Program Manager at Marion Community Foundation. “Local nonprofits may look to the Marion Community Foundation to help meet known needs and move our community forward.”
Grant applications are being accepted for projects which affect local change and develop community solutions. Priority for awards will be given to programs which:
- provide food, shelter, and support,
- assist the immediate needs of children, families, or seniors,
- impact community development,
- improve health and wellness,
- encourage arts and culture,
- provide care for animals and the environment, and
- support educational initiatives.
“Marion Community Foundation believes our local nonprofits have solutions to Marion’s biggest challenges,” said Jacob. “We are offering grant dollars to envision, tackle, collaborate, or act upon problems aggressively.”
