Jerri “Grandma Boo” Hess, age 72 of Ashley passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, April 9, 2010 at home.
She was born on December 19, 1937 in Columbus to the late Charles and Eleanor (Lawton) Gordon. Formerly of Delaware, she had been an Ashley resident since 1989.
Family time was most important to her; she also enjoyed crafts of all types, especially crocheting and ceramics. There wasn’t anything that Jerri did not collect, she favored oriental items and even stray neighborhood children. She enjoyed having a goodtime, whether it was a party or cookout. One with broad shoulders and at times feisty, she was ornery to the core. Everyone’s best friend, her candy dishes was always open for a required hug.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years: Paul, children: Sherri (PeeWee) Jordan of Marengo, Rick Ruhl of Delaware, Robin Hess of Ashley, Traci Hess of Cardington, Garry Hess of Ashley, 2 four legged daughters: Mia and Maggie, 16 Grandchildren, 14 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren, brother: Dick (Shirley) Gordon of Summerset, Sisters: Joann Thacker and Jean (Jack) Evans both of Ashley, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Preceded in death by son: Randy Ruhl in 1989, granddaughter: Rikki Ruhl in 1985, brothers: Bill and Jimmy Gordon.
Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 p.m. prior to the service celebrating the life of Jerri Hess at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware, burial will follow in Green Mound Cemetery in Kilbourne. Memorial contributions can be made to her family to help with final expenses.
