Man arrested after Marion stabbing on New Year’s Eve

On January 31, 2015 at 8:43 PM, the Marion Police Department said they responded to the 230 block of Owens St. for a report of a man that had been stabbed.

When officers arrived, they said they located a 45-year-old Marion man who had received a single stab wound to the upper chest. The man was transported to Marion General Hospital by the Marion City Fire Department and later taken to a Columbus hospital for treatment.

Police said the suspect in the case was located at the scene and was arrested shortly thereafter.

Michael Derenburger, 50, of Marion, was arrested on a charge of Felonious Assault and taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center to await formal charges. The case has been forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
