Modern Woodmen contributed more than $320,000 to central Ohio in 2015

Residents and community organizations in central Ohio received $320,010.48 in assistance through Modern Woodmen of America’s fraternal member benefits and outreach projects in 2015, according to recently released results from the fraternal financial services organization. These dollars support social, educational and volunteer activities in the region.

“I’m proud of what our local Modern Woodmen members have accomplished,” said Lori D. Seckel, regional director with offices in Marion. “Their efforts really make an impact in our region.”

Modern Woodmen members in the area are part of:

  • 42 chapters
  • 8 Summit chapters (for members age 55 and over)
  • 5 youth service clubs

With the help of Modern Woodmen’s many fraternal programs, members plan and participate in projects that support community needs. In 2015, area Modern Woodmen members spent a total of 2,673 hours volunteering in central Ohio.

Modern Woodmen members across the country support many outreach projects, such as collecting and donating items to local food banks, raising money to support individuals in need, beautifying local parks and helping repair homes for those less fortunate.

Additionally, Modern Woodmen’s financial representatives in central Ohio donated 106 free youth educational programs to local schools and youth organizations, educating 3,922 children about financial literacy, civics and citizenship, exercise and nutrition, and other topics.

Seckel notes that these efforts uphold Modern Woodmen’s mission to improve quality of life.

“Modern Woodmen offers more than financial services,” explains Seckel. “Our representatives and members have a passion for giving back. That passion has been with us since 1883, when Modern Woodmen was founded.”

Modern Woodmen serves members for life. The tax-exempt fraternal benefit society offers life insurance, annuity and investment products to improve the quality of life of its members, their families and their communities. In turn, members make an impact through social, educational and volunteer activities. In 2015, Modern Woodmen and its members provided $19.2 million and 438,000 volunteer hours for community projects nationwide.
