Howard C. Shelton passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Marion General Hospital. He was 87 years old.
Howard was born April 7, 1923 in Akron, OH to the late Wattie Ben and Letah Nevada (Baker) Shelton. He married Norma Jean Smith in Marion on November 4, 1951.
Howard was a United States Navy Veteran. He had been employed with GTE as a maintenance supervisor and with HPM as an electrician. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He liked watching football and basketball, and was a Cincinnati Reds and an Ohio State Buckeye fan. He also enjoyed doing puzzles. Howard had a kind heart. He was a good neighbor, and helped others whenever he could.
Howard is survived by his son, Larry (Joyce) Shelton of Marion; daughters, Connie Shelton Marion, Cindy (Gene) Whited of Marysville; grandchildren, Jonathan Shelton, Angela (Tony) Hartman, Brienna Whited, and Jacob Whited; and great grandchildren, Logan Xavier and Abigail Jean Hartman.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by brothers, C. Richard Shelton, and Charles Willard Shelton; and sister, Clarabelle Harriman.
Friends and loved ones may visit with the family Friday, March 18, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 19 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery. Reverend Charles Bowling will officiate the service.
