Dorothy Louise Wertheimer, 91, of Marion passed away Friday, March 11, 2011 at Huntington Beach Hospital in Huntington Beach, CA.
She was born April 28, 1919 in Piqua, OH to the late G. Hamer and Mary D. (Young) White.
She married Joseph Wertheimer August 1, 1940 in Henderson, Kentucky; they enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Joseph passed away February 24, 1997 in Marion.
Dorothy graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1937. She also graduated from Ohio Northern University in Ada, OH majoring in elementary education. She then invested nearly 25 years teaching children grades K-4, most of those years with the Marion City School District. Dorothy taught Sunday School at Calvary E.U.B. Church in Marion for over 30 years. For the past 20 years she has been involved with various prayer groups at Berean Baptist Church in Marion.
Dorothy is survived by sons, Bruce A. Wertheimer of Baltimore, MD, and Stephen P. (Mary) Wertheimer of Huntington Beach, CA; granddaughters, Heather L. (Donald) Bigelow of Costa Mesa, CA, and Iris J. Wertheimer of Huntington Beach, CA; and great grandchildren, Ashley Bigelow and Donald Bigelow IV.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 1 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery. Pastor Charles Reed will officiate the service. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 6-8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.
