Indians beat Angels 8-3

Carlos Santana homered from each side of the plate, and Francisco Lindor also went deep in the Indians’ 8-3 win over the Angels on Sunday at Angel Stadium to clinch a road series victory.

The Angels’ Mike Trout left the game in the eighth inning after being hit by a pitch on the right hand. X-rays were negative on Trout, who sustained a right thumb contusion. Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Trout should be able to play Monday against the Twins.

Lindor opened the scoring with a homer to left in the first, followed by Santana’s shot during a four-run second. The Indians jumped on Angels starter David Huff, who allowed five runs (two earned) over 1 2/3 innings. In the ninth, Santana — hitting left-handed — homered down the right-field line to extend the Indians’ lead to 8-2.

Indians right-hander Danny Salazar was strong before running into trouble in the sixth, as he gave up a run on three hits over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out the Angels, who have the fewest strikeouts in the Majors, eight times to hand them their sixth loss in their last seven games.
