Two seriously injured in motorcycle crash

Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at approximately 10:10pm on White Oaks Road near the intersection of State Route 4 in Marion County.

The crash involved a maroon 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Timothy W. Steck, 52, of Delaware, Ohio. Steck had one passenger, Karla Rush, 51, of Marion, Ohio.

The Patrol reported that the Harley was traveling south on White Oaks Road when Steck failed to negotiate a curve, driving off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a guy wire attached to a utility pole, causing the eject ion of both occupants.

Steck was transported from the scene to Marion General Hospital by Marion City Fire & EMS and was later transported to Grant Medical Center by Medcare EMS. Rush was transported from the scene to Marion General Hospital by Marion Twp. EMS and was later flown to Grant Medical Center by MedFlight.

Investigators said that helmets were not in use and alcohol is suspected. No charges have been filed and the crash remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Marion Township Fire & EMS, Marion City Fire & EMS, Pleasant Twp. Fire, and Ed’s Towing.
