Kim Bradshaw of Marion was named Ms. Marion Popcorn Festival 2016 during popcorn royalty festivities Saturday evening, August 6, at River Valley High School. She won a cash award, a crown, banner and prize package.
“I was pretty surprised I won,” said Bradshaw … still a little speechless after the crowning. “It’s such a good feeling because I worked hard on this, really worked hard throughout the entire year. I will be so happy to represent Marion and locally and throughout the state.
“And I am really looking forward to all the Festival events, especially Kellie Pickler – I already have my red heels,” Bradshaw said referencing a hit song by Pickler entitled “Red High Heels”.
Bradshaw resides in Marion with her husband, Daniel, and daughters Anna and Lydia. She is a Quality Analyst at Ohio Mutual Insurance Group.
First Runner Up was Michelle Maynard who also captured the Popcorn Wear, Evening Gown, and Photogenic awards. She lives in Westerville with her husband and daughter, and is currently an officer in financial services.
Second Runner Up was Stacie Hines, who also earned the People’s Choice award by raising over $1,000 towards the pageant. She also walked away with the Interview Award. From Waldo, Hines is an income tax account specialist with the City of Delaware. She and her husband, Scott, have three children Courtnie, Caden, and Cloie.
The third runner up spot was nabbed by Jennifer DeGood. She is a certified occupational therapy assistant, and is the parent of four children ages 19, 15 and 5-year-old twins.
Each runner-up received a banner and prize package. Also participating were:
Dina Rudd is a registered nurse and currently pursuing her Master’s Degree. She and her husband, Marvin, are the parents of Whitney, Chris, Ryan, Alex, and stepchildren Danielle and Bryant.
Tiffany Shepherd resides in Marion where she is currently enrolled at The Ohio State University at Marion majoring in Sociology. She is employed at Meijer.
Each of the contestants participated in an Interview session, Evening Wear, Popcorn Wear, and an on-stage question.
The awards for the contestants were sponsored by bluefusion Entertainment, Experis IT, Preferred Popcorn, Terrie’s Photography Studio, Custom Professional Accounting, Sweet Dee’s Delightful Treats, Christina Wyatt – Thirty-one Consultant, Courtney Miller – Younique, Applebee’s, The Warehouse, and Hemmerly’s Flowers & Gifts.
The 2016 dates of the Marion Popcorn Festival are September 8, 9 and 10. Main stage entertainment includes Thursday, September 8’s Bike Nite featuring Rock Brigade – The Def Leppard Experience at 8:30 p.m., country star Kellie Pickler on Friday, September 9, and heavy metal/rock band Skid Row set for Saturday, September 10. All headline performances begin at 8:30 p.m. are free of charge to Festival attendees.

Other events include Terry Lee Goffee, The “Ultimate” Johnny Cash Tribute, at the historic Marion Palace Theatre at 2:00 p.m. on September 8, the Popcorn Parade with over 300 units, a popcorn cooking contest, a fine art show, crafts, Popcorn 5000 5K run/walk, Popcorn 100 bike tour, Community Showcase stage, Marion’s Hometown Talent stage, Poppin’ Party stage, and much more.
