Troopers investigating serious injury crash in Marion County

Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at approximately 12:55 p.m. on Martel Road, between the intersections of State Route 309 and Linn Hipsher Road in Tully Township.

The crash involved a 2000 self-assembled motorcycle driven by Lance Allen Delong, 19, of Caledonia. Troopers said DeLong was traveling north on Martel Road when he failed to negotiate a curve to the left in the roadway, drove off the right side of the roadway, lost control and overturned.

DeLong was transported to Marion General Hospital by 1st Consolidated Fire and EMS, but later transferred to OSU Medical Center in Columbus by MedFlight.

Assisting at the scene was First Consolidated Fire & EMS.

No charges have been filed at this time and the crash remains under investigation.  A protective helmet was in use by DeLong at the time of the crash.
