Dorothy M. “Granny” Walke, age 90, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 9:20 AM at Marion General Hospital. On June 16, 1926, she was born to the late Adam and Sylvia Mason, and later, she married Wendell Walke, Sr.
Dorothy worked for 26 years at the Town and Country IGA, and at the age of 70, she retired from her position as a booker at Quality Masonry Company. She was proud to have been known as the Golden Buckeye Lady at the Ohio Department of Aging.
She is survived by her son Wendell W. Walke of Marion; her brother Larry Resinger of Seattle, Washington; her granddaughters Teresa and Crystal Spires; and her great-grandchildren Brandon Blanton, Sierra Floridia, Bailey Blanton, Kourtney Floridia, Blake Boom, and Cole Blanton.
She was preceded in death by her brother James and her sisters Ota, Helen, and Patty.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 6 PM to 9 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 at 1 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Bishop Tom Beckel officiating. Burial will follow at the Grand Prairie Cemetery.
