Dixie D. Atkinson, age 76, of Marion passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 3:55 AM in the Heartland of Marion.
She was born in Mt. Gilead, Ohio on September 23, 1939 to the late Gerald L. and Dorothy E. (Prettyman) Armstrong.
Dixie married James L. Atkinson in Marion, Ohio on June 1, 1958 and he survives.
She was a 1957 graduate of Marion Harding High School and attended the Berean Baptist Church. Dixie was past President of the Marion Area Humane Society. She retired as an analyst from the General Telephone Company after 25 years of service.
Surviving are a son; David (Tracie) Atkinson of Marion, OH., two daughters; Cindy Langhirt of Marysville, OH. & Debbie (Rick) Fulton of Chelsea, AL., nine grandchildren; Ashley, Eric, Dustin, Shelby, Skyler, Matt, April, Ashley, & Alicia, and five great grandchildren.
Dixie was preceded in death by a grandson; Michael, one brother; Gene Armstrong, and a sister; Etta Mae Miller.
The family will be receiving friends in the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Pastors Chris Peria and Dr. Charles Reed will conduct the funeral service in the Berean Baptist Church on Wednesday at 10:30 AM with burial to follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
