Scott A. Tillett, age 54 of Powell, formerly of Marion, passed away Thursday, October 6th, 2016 at Riverside Hospital following a brief illness.
Born on July 27, 1962 in Marion, he was the son of the late Herbert and Jane (Tavenner) Tillett. He graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1981 where he played both football and basketball. Scott went on to Bowling Green State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Advertising, was a member of the Phi Kappa Si Fraternity and a lifelong devoted fan of the BG Falcons.
Driven and dedicated to his career, Scott was a true professional working the last eleven years in corporate sales with the international multi-media publishing company, Elsevier. He traveled the world where he earned achievement awards with which he humbly decorated his office walls. Prior to this success, he worked with both Sterling Commerce and CompuServe.
Scott’s life centered around his family and he leaves behind those whom he cherished most: His beloved wife Brenda (Holt) whom he married 27 years ago, treasured son, Weston, also known as his “Buddy Forever,” and precious daughter, “Love the baby girl,” Grace. He will also be missed by his sister Cathy (John) Scowden of Gahanna; nieces and nephew: Anne, Rebecca, and Keith Scowden, parents-in-law: Janice and Harold Holt of Marion; sister and brothers-in-law: Tery (Steve) Gilmore, Ed Holt; additional nieces and nephews: Morgan (Dan) Collins, Eric Gilmore, Pierce and Levi Holt, as well as a host of friends and professional colleagues.
A true gentleman in every way he was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. Scott found joy coaching his sons sports teams, playing golf, skiing, gardening or tending to his yard. He always looked forward to family vacations, and enjoyed Indy car racing, especially the Mid-Ohio Races. With an interest in art, he enjoyed attending area art festivals and amassed his own unique collection surrounding his home. He was a member of Powell United Methodist Church, and a former member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Marion.
Generous in many ways, Scott was always willing to lend a helping hand. Simply put he was a good man who leaves a legacy that will speak for itself.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr. (formerly 1510 W. William St.), Delaware, Ohio 43015.
