Richard Eugene Wilson, age 79, of Harpster, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Heartland of Marion. On December 14, 1936, he was born to the late James Harold and Elizabeth (Goodrich) Wilson, and on July 18, 1998, he married his wife Loma Hughes in Marion.
Richard was a member of the Masons, the Shriners, and served in the Army, 82nd and 101st Airborne. He loved to fish and golf and enjoyed gardening. He was known for his incredible work ethic and his ability to fix anything. He spent 42 years working as a plant operator for the Ohio American Water Company and supported the VFW.
He is survived by his children Jackie (Chris) Weir, Terri (Bruce) Mattix, Lisa White, Rich (Tracie) Wilson, and Shannon (Matt) Dennis; his step-children Brian (Kristi) Mattix, Brad (Gretchen) Mattix, Brenda Kessler, and Bruce (Terri) Mattix; his grandchildren Mandy (Randy) Adams, Erin (Dan) Ferry, Brandon Smith, Logan Mattix, Brooke Mattix, Jamie (Brian) Williams, Jessica (Mike) Everly, Tommy White, Reed Wilson, Grant Wilson, Quinn Wilson, Sam Dennis, Mackenzie Icenhour, Morgan Icenhour, Riley Mattix, Avery Mattix, Lucas Mattix, Shae Mattix, Lindsey Kessler, Kenzie Kessler, and Ethan Kessler; and his 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia Wilson, who passed away on February 11, 1993, and his sisters Pat Davis and Ruth Brown.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10 AM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
