JoAnn (DeLong) Schrake McGibbon, age 78 of Marion, passed away on Friday December 9, 2016 at her home in Marion.
JoAnn was born in Chillicothe, OH on March 4, 1938, the daughter of Tracy Harold and Edna (Dickus) DeLong.
JoAnn was a devoted homemaker that cherished her family. She enjoyed crafts, playing BINGO and spending time with many close friends. She was a woman who was not afraid to speak her mind. She was a fighter that beat cancer; and with a nickname like “Annie Oakley”, one should think twice about showing up announced. JoAnn was always willing to try anything, from roller coasters to motorcycles; she was up to the challenge.
JoAnn was a woman who loved God and had a deep faith. She attended the Fairpark Baptist Church on a regular basis.
She is survived by her children: Harold Lloyd (Carolyn) Schrake, Norm (Debby) Schrake and Robert “Ed” (Sue) Schrake, Jr.; grandchildren: Angie Sue (Bill) Atha, Lindsay (Aaron) Dennis, Brandi (Jake) Steele, Heather Lynn Schrake, Marcie (BJ Stover) Schrake, Jestin “Tater” (Savanna) Schrake, James “Bub” Schrake and Jason Millington; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; her favorite dog “Lilguy”; and many dear friends.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Robert Edward Schrake, Sr. and Ed McGibbon; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Overly Chapel, 22 Rocky Rd., Chillicothe, OH, from 1 to 2PM; Funeral services will follow at 2PM with Rev. Tim Robertson officiating; Burial will be in Overly Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to assist the family.
