Richard A. “Rick” Hagloch, age 81 of Delaware and formerly of Dover, Ohio passed away Tuesday evening, May 3, 2011 at Grady Memorial Hospital following a 2 month illness.
He was born on June 6, 1929 in Dover to the late Henry C. and Charlotte (Pfeiffer) Hagloch.
A graduate of Dover High School in 1947, he served in the US Army for a two year term. He worked as foreman with Union Camp Chemical Company for 23 years, retiring in 1990. Richard moved to Delaware in 1992 and was a former member of the St. Pauls Ruslin Hills Church of Christ in Dover. Along with his wife, he also served as a Meals on Wheels driver in Delaware.
A man of “lists”, he enjoyed reading books of history and gardening, or has he expressed “scratching in the dirt”. Rick also authored the book “Growing Up In Dover”, about his the place he always called home. He will be remembered for his love of family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Survived by his beloved wife of 53 years: Norma (Ickes), daughter: Janet (Tim) Cain of Ashley, sons: Paul and Mark Hagloch of Dover, Chuck (Tammy) Smitley of Cocoa Beach, FL, grandsons: Louey and Dominick Hagloch of New Philadelphia, Kyle and Nathan Cain of Ashley, great-grandchildren: Kayleigh, Connor, and Cam, brother: Clifford (Norma) Hagloch of Dover.
Preceded in death by daughter, Cindy, five brothers and six sisters.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware and from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover, Ohio, graveside services will immediately follow at the Dover Burial Park with military honors.
