Clyde E. Henthorn, age 69, of Cardington, died early Tuesday morning, May 3, 2011, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
On October 7, 1941, Clyde was born in Woodsfield, Ohio, the son of the late Walter Henthorn and Amelia (Boughner) Henthorn Lindenmeyer.
Clyde enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1959 and served for over three years in the 58th Engineers Company, stationed in Germany.
In 1973, Clyde met Constance “Connie” Hamelin and on October 19, 1974 they were married near her hometown in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. They lived in many places up until they made Cardington their home, where they have been since 1988. Together they have shared over thirty-six wonderful years of marriage.
Clyde will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Connie Henthorn of Cardington; three children: Jeanette “Jenny” (Christopher) Benedict of Cardington, Nicole (Robert) Brown of Marengo, and Adam (Kari) Henthorn of Cardington; nine grandchildren: Corban, Braydan, and Rozzalyn Benedict, Alexis and Kindall Brown, Austin, Kinstin, and Lleytin Henthorn, and Liam Findley; two step-grandchildren: Cassie and Levi Brown; a brother, Dale Henthorn; and many other loving family members.
In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Kay Henthorn.
The Henthorn family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating his life will also be held there on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Hospice Chaplain Dave Matos officiating. Military honors provided by the V.F.W. Post 8054 and AmVets Post 87 will immediately follow the services at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.
