William “Bill” L. King passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 23, 2011 at Marion General Hospital. He was 67 years old.
Bill was born May 12, 1944 in Marion to the late Maurice and Jane Burnett. Bill was adopted and raised by Herbert and Audrey (Davis) King.
Bill married Connie Schmidt May 17, 1991 in Delaware, Ohio.
Bill retired from Whirlpool after 38 years of employment. He loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He also had a strong faith in God. Bill was “larger-than-life”; he was always joking and smiling, he would dance anytime he had the opportunity, and with his love for people he never knew a stranger. He had an interest in motorcycles, liked to fish, and was frequently trading in his car for something new.
Bill is survived by his wife Connie King of Marion; sons Douglas P. (Sarah) King of Mt. Gilead, OH, Gregory W. (Sherry) King of Galena, OH; Stacey L. (Jim) Smith of Marion; step-daughters, Loretta S. (Scott) Magers of Prospect, and Nicole L. (Bryan) Handley of South Carolina; grandchildren, Lexi, Kelsie, Andrew, Taylor, Morgan, Preston, Harlie, Wyatt, Carson, and Alexis; and great grandchild Kaidyn; and his beloved dog Sadie Lynn King.
In addition to his parents Bill was preceded in death by his brother Raymond “Sky” King; and former wife Patricia Ann Kirby.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 27, 2011 at 1 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery. Pastor Rich Allen will officiate the service. Friends and loved ones may visit with the family Thursday, May 26 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Bill may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation.
