On January 16, 2018, Betty Potter Paxton, 62, passed away at Marion General Hospital after a brief illness. She was born to the late John Potter and late Margaret (Dorton) Potter in Pound, Virginia on March 25, 1955.
Betty was a homemaker and was best known for helping anyone in need. She always put the needs of others first in her life. She watched the broadcasts of My Community Church (WOCB) on television channel 39 with Pastor Dave Aikens.
Betty was preceded in death not only by her parents, but also a brother, John Potter, Jr. and a niece, Jennifer Rena Potter. Survived to cherish her memory are sisters, Patricia (Paul) Bell of Marion, Precilla Perry of Marion, and sister-in-law, Bonnie Potter also of Marion. Although Betty had no children of her own, she was blessed and loved by many nieces, Shelley (Brian) Baxter of Marysville, Celeste (Scott) Emmons of Marion, Dawn Perry of Delaware, and Jessica Potter of Marion; nephews, Shawn Bale, John Potter, and James Perry, all of Marion; great-nieces, Carrie Fuller, Kimberly Emmons, Raven Bale, Shadow Taylor, Brittany Potter, Sidney Potter, Lauren Perry, Akasha Perry, and Kayla Kiames; and great-nephews, Tra Potter, Scott Emmons, Colton Bale, Levi Bale, Arron Kiames, James Perry, Owen Bale and Caden Kiames: great-great nieces Lily Fuller, Alissia Emmons, and Graclyn Taylor; and great-great nephews Miles Mastrongelo and Britton Potter.
She will be especially missed by the love of her life and longtime companion, Thomas Baker.
Family and friends will gather for calling hours at Boyd-Born Funeral Home at 6:00pm Thursday, January 18, 2018 with a memorial service, officiated by Pastor Dave Aikens, immediately following at 7:00pm.
