John Martin Blashinsky, Jr. went to be at peace with the Lord, and his family that have gone ahead, on Thursday, May 26, 2011.
John was born on May 20, 1935 in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania. He celebrated his 76th birthday on Friday with his friends at the Kingston Memory Unit.
Many will remember John as “The Tire Man” who always had time for a joke. He was an independent Goodyear dealer, servicing over the road truckers and Marion businesses with his friend Harley Page. Before that, he worked at Quaker Oats and was manager of B.F. Goodrich stores in Marion and Tiffin.
On January 3, 1953, in Churubusco, Indiana John married his childhood sweetheart Patricia Artrip. She survives along with 5 daughters: Renee’, Diana, JoAnn, Karen and Julie. They have 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. John has 4 sisters and 2 brothers, along with many nieces and nephews, cousins and son-in-laws.
He will be sorely missed by all of his relatives, friends and certainly by the caring and gentle staff of Kingston’s Memory Unit.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 251 North Main Street, Marion, and Father Michael F. Nimocks will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
The Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve John’s family.
Rather than flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
