William Theodore Freeman Sr., 94, of Marion, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, August 24, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family.
William was born in St. Johns, Ohio to the late Clarence and Dora Freeman on October 20, 1923.
He graduated from Harding in 1941 and proudly served our country as a two time veteran; serving in the United States Army during WWII and the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He married the love of his life, Evelyn Mae (Woodrum) Freeman on March 22, 1943, and she preceded him in death in 2014 after 70 years of marriage.
William and Evelyn had two sons, William (Malia) Freeman Jr. of Marion who survives, and Richard E. Freeman who preceded him in death in 1994. He is also survived by one sister, Gloria Pearson of Ostrander, five grandchildren, Cheryl (David) Grate of Marion, Karen (Todd) Gorter of Olathe, Kansas, Geoff (Dinah) Freeman of Marion, Tom Garner of LaRue, and Tim (Laura) Garner of Marion, and seven great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Orpha L. (Marks) Keefer and Mary Jane Rogers.
William worked as a Maintenance Supervisor at Eaton for 30 years until retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Marion Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church and served in many capacities there throughout the years.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to special neighbors, Benny (Phylis) Rose, staff from Hospice of Heartland and granddaughter, Laura Garner for their assistance and excellent care, and to all who touched his life through your support, care and friendship.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 5 pm to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 11 am; both services will be held at Heritage Bible Church, 193 Marion Williamsport Rd., Marion, Ohio. Burial/Internment will follow at Marion Cemetery.
