Frances Burton, age 90, of Marion, and formerly of West Virginia, died Monday, May 24, 2010, following an extended illness at the Heartland of Marion Nursing Home.
Born on November 25, 1919, in Red Star West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Emeline (Bunch) and Alex Mackey.
She was a graduate of Oak Hill High School in West Virginia.
Frances proudly worked for Sears Roebuck and Company for over 25 years where she retired as the Children’s Department manager. She never missed a day of work in her life.
A woman of deep faith, Frances belonged to the Trinity Baptist church in Marion since 1960.
She will be dearly missed by her son: Frank L. (Terry) Burton Jr. of Marion; nine grandchildren: Stacy Burton of Marion, Scott (Holly) Burton of Florida, Jeremy Simpkins of Marion, Sarah Simpkins of Marion, Rhonda (Peter) Dettra of Mount Gilead, Charlie Burton of Marion, Bobby Sedlock of Florida, Duane Sedlock of Florida, and Kerry Sedlock of Florida; and by numerous great and great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, her husband of over 40 years, Frank L. Burton Sr. whom she married on August 16, 1940, preceded her in death on January 26, 1981. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Judy Kay Price; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
No calling hours will be observed. A graveside service will be held at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Victor, West Virginia, on Friday, May 28, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Doug Eades officiating.
