Joyce A. (Power) Whittington passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 5, 2011, at Riverside Methodist Hospital and has joined The Lord Jesus Christ with celebration of eternal life.
She was born May 27, 1937, to the late Victor and Marguerite (Houser) Power.
Joyce, on life's journey of Love, married Robert O. Whittington on August 9, 1953. Together they enjoyed 57 years of marriage and raising their family.
Joyce was a life long resident of Marion. A homemaker for many years, she decided to begin a career helping others. Joyce was a Care Line volunteer for many years and later became an LPN working for Dr. Vernon Nichols and Morning View Care Center.
Joyce is survived by her husband Robert O. Whittington, daughter Teresa (David) Bailey, Marion, a son Robert O. (Melanie) Whittington Jr., Gibsonia, PA., seven grandchildren Jennifer Reames, Marion, Monica Reames, Caledonia, Alexander and Alyssa Whittington, Gibsonia, PA., Bethany, Abby and Joshua Bailey, Marion, two great-grandchildren Hailey Kinnamon and Brendan Reames, Caledonia, a brother Patrick (Cheryl) Power, Columbus, and a sister Judy Clem, Anaheim, CA.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Debra Reames.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, August 7, 2011, from 2 to 5 PM at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors in Marion. Funeral service will be held Monday, August 8, 2011, at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Ed Wahl will lead the service. Burial will be in the Marion Cemetery.
